Angel in Hebrew is mal'âk
Mal'âk means messenger.
Mal'âk can refer to a spiritual being sent from Yehovah, a man, a prophet, the high priest (Malachi 2:7), or Yehovah Himself. It is simply someone who delivers a message.
Scripture clearly shows the Angel [messenger] of Yehovah is Yehovah in another form. He delivers His own messages.
Genesis 32:28-30 And He said, Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel, because you have wrestled with God and with men, and have prevailed. And Jacob asked and said, Please reveal Your name. And He said, Why this that you ask about My name? And He blessed him there. And Jacob called the name of the place Face of God, because I saw God face to face, and my life is delivered.
Genesis 48:16 [Jacob said:] "The Angel [messenger] that redeemed me from every evil, may He bless the youths; and may my name be called on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac, and may they like the fishes increase into a multitude in the midst of the earth."
The Messenger of Yehovah can take on any form He pleases:
Exodus 3:2 And the Angel [messenger] of Yehovah appeared to him in a flame of fire from the middle of a thorn bush. And he looked, and behold, the thorn bush was burning with fire, and the thorn bush was not burned up!
It was the Messenger of Yehovah that lead the Israelites out of Egypt and in the desert:
Exodus 13:21,22 And Yehovah was going before them by day in a pillar of cloud, to lead them in the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give light to them, to go by day and by night. The pillar of cloud did not cease by day, and the pillar of fire by night, before the people.
Exodus 32:34 And now go, lead the people to that place which I have spoken to you. Behold, My Angel [messenger] shall go before your face. And in the day of My visitation I will visit their sin on them.
Judges 2:1 And the Angel [messenger] of Yehovah came up from Gilgal to The Place of Weeping, and said, I caused you to come up out of Egypt and brought you into the land which I had sworn to your fathers, and said, I will not break My covenant with you forever.
Again - the Messenger of Yehovah is recognized as Yehovah:
Judges 6:22,23 And Gideon saw that He was the Angel [Messenger] of Yehovah. And Gideon said, Alas, Lord Yehovah! Because I have seen the Angel [Messenger] of Yehovah face to face! And Yehovah said to him, Peace to you, fear not. You shall not die.
Judges 13:21,22 And the Angel [Messenger] of Yehovah did not appear any more to Manoah, or to his wife. Then Manoah knew that He was the Angel [Messenger] of Yehovah. And Manoah said to his wife, Dying we shall die, because we have seen God.
The Messenger of Yehovah can appear as a man:
Zechariah 1:10,11 And the Man who stood among the myrtle trees answered and said, "These are those whom Yehovah has sent to walk to and fro through the earth." And they answered the Angel [Messenger] of Yehovah who stood among the myrtle trees, and said, We have walked to and fro through the earth, and, behold, all the earth sits still and is at rest.
Malachi 3:1-2 Behold, I am sending My messenger [John the Baptist], and he will clear the way before Me. And the Lord whom you are seeking shall suddenly come to His temple [on a donkey - see verse below], even the Angel [messenger] of the Covenant, in whom you delight [the Messenger of Yehovah is well-known to the people of Israel because He has been with them this whole time]. Behold, He comes, says Yehovah of Hosts. But who can endure the day of His coming? And who will stand when He appears? For He is like a refiner's fire and like fuller's soap. And He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; and He shall purify the sons of Levi and purge them like gold and like silver, that they may be presenters of a grain offering in righteousness to Yehovah.
Yeshua, Messager of the Covenant, Messager of Yehovah, who John the Baptist prepared the way for confirms the fulfillment of the above prophecy:
Matthew 11:10,11 [Yeshua said:] "For this is the one about whom it has been written: 'Behold, I send out My messenger before Your face, who shall prepare Your way before You.' Truly I say to you, There has not arisen among those born of a woman any greater than John the Baptist. But the least in the kingdom of Heaven is greater than he is."
Zechariah 9:9,10 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King comes to you! He is righteous and being victorious, humble, and riding on a donkey, even on a colt, the son of a donkey. And I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim and the horse from Jerusalem. And the battle bow shall be cut off, and He shall speak peace to the nations. And His dominion shall be from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth.
Matthew 21:4-11 But all this happened that might be fulfilled that spoken by the prophet, saying: "Tell the daughter of Zion, Behold, your King comes to you, meek and mounted on a donkey, even a colt, the colt of a donkey." ...And the very great crowd strewed their garments in the road. And others were cutting branches from the trees and were spreading them in the way. And the crowd, the ones going before and the ones following, were crying out, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David! "Blessed is He coming in the name of the Lord"! Hosanna in the highest! And as He entered into Jerusalem, all the city was shaken, saying, Who is this? And the crowds said, This is Yeshua the prophet who is from Nazareth of Galilee.
